File sharing (Samba)
Copy music and audio plays from your computer to MuPiBox over a network share – Windows, macOS and Linux, with password or guest access.
File sharing lets you copy music and audio plays from your computer directly onto the box.
Setup
- Enable the Samba share.
- Choose the access: with password (recommended) or as a guest.
- Optionally change the share name (default
MuPiBox). - Set a password for the user
mupibox. Leaving it empty keeps a password that is already set.
The user name is always mupibox.
Connecting
| System | Address |
|---|---|
| Windows | in Explorer \\<boxname>\MuPiBox or \\<IP>\MuPiBox |
| macOS | Finder → Go → Connect to Server → smb://<boxname>.local/MuPiBox |
| Linux | file manager: smb://<boxname>.local/MuPiBox |
The admin interface shows the exact address (UNC path).
Folder structure
Music goes into the music folder. Best is one folder per album or audio play, containing the tracks in the right order (e.g. 01 - Title.mp3). An image cover.jpg, cover.png or folder.jpg in the folder is used as the cover; otherwise the box reads the cover from the files. Then assign the folder to a category under Media & categories.
MP3, M4A/AAC, FLAC, OGG/Opus and WAV are supported. Lyrics for karaoke go next to the music file as .lrc.
