Quick controls
The start page of the admin interface – control playback, change the volume, let the box speak messages and keep an eye on the system.
Quick controls is the first page after logging in. Here you control the box remotely without touching the kids' interface.
Playback and volume
- Playback: shows what is playing and offers previous, play/pause and next. "Not reachable" means the player service is not answering right now – usually during a restart or update.
- Volume: the slider and −/+ change the volume immediately. The upper limit is set under Audio; you cannot go above the maximum volume here either.
Send a message to the box
Type a text and send it: the box speaks it with the configured voice. Music playing at that moment is lowered or paused and resumed afterwards. An optional short notification sound plays first (Audio). This only works when text-to-speech is set up.
System at a glance
Live values of the box:

| CPU temperature | Above 80 °C the Pi throttles; a fan helps. |
| CPU and RAM usage | Permanently high values point to a problem, see Logs. |
| Storage usage | Usage of the SD card or boot drive. |
| Uptime | Time since the last start. |
| Battery / MuPiHAT | Only with an enabled MuPiHAT: charge level, external power, voltage, current and temperature. |
| Fan | Only with fan control enabled: control temperature and speed. |
Box controls
Restart and Shut down ask for confirmation. Both stop playback and write open data safely. If a shutdown sound is enabled, the box waits until it has played. More under Restart & power.
New update
When an update is available, an orange "New update" notice with the version appears in the left sidebar under the quick links. Clicking it opens the Updates page with the "Update now" button.
