Migrating from Classic to NG

Prepare a safe switch without assuming Classic backups, databases, credentials or hardware settings are compatible.

MuPiBox NG is a new implementation. Do not import Classic backups into NG restore.

Before switching

  1. Retain a complete Classic backup and separate copies of music.
  2. Record directories, RFID associations, GPIO pins, audio/display hardware and provider logins.
  3. Test NG on a separate SD card so Classic remains bootable.
  4. Check hardware compatibility and follow Installation.

Database formats, tokens and GPIO settings are not guaranteed compatible. Test playback, display and cards before replacing Classic. Create a fresh NG backup. The Classic manual remains available.
