Photo gallery

Browse local photo albums and connected NAS folders on the touchscreen with swipe gestures and previous/next controls.

The optional Photo gallery shows images in read-only mode. Enable it before adding its launcher to the kids' home screen.

Enable the gallery #

In the admin UI, enable Content → Providers & services → Photo gallery, then add Photo gallery as a source under Content → Media & categories.

Local albums #

Create one directory per album under /srv/mupibox/music/Fotos, accessible through the box's existing file share. Example: Fotos/Family trip/photo001.jpg. The gallery scans albums on opening.

NAS albums #

Connect an SMB share under NAS. Set the gallery's NAS photo folder to a relative directory within each share (default Fotos); put album folders beneath it. Only active, mounted NAS shares are scanned.

Touch controls #

Tap an album, then swipe left or right, or use the big previous/next arrows. Back returns to the album overview. Original files remain unchanged.

File formats and safety #

JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP are recognized where Qt supports them. Nested albums, HEIC and RAW are not currently supported. Files are read only from the configured local and active NAS photo folders; symlinks outside these folders are ignored. Anyone on the local network who can access the enabled gallery may view those photos, so share only intended pictures.
