System – status, boot analysis and tuning
Watch MuPiBox live values, analyse the boot and tune swap, waiting for the network, CPU profile, SD card clock and initial turbo deliberately.
Under System you first measure the current state and then tune deliberately.
Live system status
CPU usage, RAM, storage and CPU temperature as a history, updated every 3 seconds. The time span can be chosen; data is only collected while the status tab is open.
Boot analysis
Shows how long the last start took and how much time each service needed. Useful before you change the tuning options below.
System tuning
| Option | Effect | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Swap | swap space on the SD card. Off means fewer writes; when memory runs short, programs are ended earlier. | usually off for a pure audio box |
| Wait for network at boot | off speeds up a start without network; online content loads once the network is there. | off |
| CPU profile | "Performance" reacts faster but uses more power and gets warmer. | balanced; power saving on battery |
| SD card clock | overclocks the microSD interface and can speed up booting and loading noticeably. | only with good cards, see warning |
| Initial turbo | highest CPU clock for n seconds at boot (DietPi recommends 20 s, 0 = off). | 20 s |
