Audio troubleshooting

Diagnose missing sound, Bluetooth routing, hardware output and headless PipeWire audio issues.

Check the test tone #

Try a local file and the test tone under Hardware → Audio. Check pause, volume limit and connected Bluetooth. If the tone works but the track does not, check the player or provider. Otherwise check cables, power and audio output.

Headless headphones #

On some Pi systems bcm2835 Headphones appears after booting without HDMI, while PipeWire exposes no usable output sink. Advanced users can inspect:

wpctl status systemctl status mupibox-wireplumber --no-pager journalctl -u mupibox-wireplumber -b --no-pager -n 80

A temporary diagnostic is restarting the mupibox-wireplumber service and repeating the test. That is not a permanent repair. Note the version, hardware and redacted logs for a report.
