Restart, shutdown and boot order
Restart or shut down MuPiBox safely and choose on the Raspberry Pi 4 and 5 whether it boots from the SD card or USB first.
Under System → Restart & power you restart the box, shut it down and set the boot order.
Restart and shutdown
Both stop playback and write open data safely. If a shutdown sound is enabled, the box waits until it has played. With a MuPiHAT the power is cut after the shutdown; without a MuPiHAT the Pi stays powered but halted.
Other ways to switch off: the power button (see standby), quick controls, the app or automatically when idle (Display & power).
Boot order (bootloader)
Raspberry Pi 4, 400, CM4 and 5 store in their EEPROM whether they boot from the SD card or from USB first. The page shows what the box currently boots from and suggests the matching setting.
| Setting | When useful |
|---|---|
| SD card first (default) | the box boots from the SD card |
| USB first | the box boots from a USB stick or SSD – saves 1–2 s |
The setting is not part of the backup. On a Raspberry Pi 3 or without the rpi-eeprom package the section is hidden.
