Parental control
Set up usage times, daily listening time, quiet times, blocked media sources, the sleep timer and the parent app of MuPiBox.
Parental control limits usage times and features directly on the box. The rules apply to every way of control: touch, RFID cards, hardware buttons, app and direct calls.
Usage time
Only allow playback in a time window, e.g. 07:00–19:30. The window applies daily and may run across midnight. Outside it, playback is paused automatically.
Daily listening time
A limit in minutes per weekday. 0 means: no limit on that day. Only real playback counts, not pauses or browsing.
Quiet times
Additional blocked periods, e.g. a nap. Several quiet times are possible, also across midnight; the weekdays refer to the start.
Lock behaviour
Fade out before locking: shortly before a plannable lock the volume is lowered slowly (default 20 seconds) instead of stopping abruptly.
Blocking media sources
Blocked sources – e.g. Spotify, web radio, podcasts, piano, games, colouring book, local media or the resume list – disappear from the kids' interface and cannot be started via RFID or direct calls either.
Child actions
- Audio output must not be changed: prevents switching to Bluetooth, Music Assistant or other targets on the box.
- Block offline downloads and deleting: the child can neither download nor delete podcast and ARD episodes.
Instant control
The sleep timer ends playback after a chosen time – with a gentle fade-out.
Parent app
Creates its own pairing code with parent rights for the MuPiBox app. Normal app connections (see Security & app) do not get these rights. With parent rights, rules and the sleep timer can also be controlled remotely.
Interactions
- The admin functions always stay reachable with the admin password.
- The time rules follow the box's time zone. Without internet the clock continues from the last known time after a restart.
